The fast food chain KFC opens a new restaurant in Herning

Fast food chain KFC is due to open a new restaurant with a drive-thru service in Herning at the end of 2017. The restaurant will be located on a large retail park in the eastern part of the town, where McDonald's, Jem & Fix and Bauhaus are already based, and within close proximity to the Midtjyske Motorvej. The area is also home to several other retail stores, including Bilka, Jysk, BabySam, Elgiganten and Herning Center.
 
Bjartmar Trastarson, Director of KFC Danmark, says: "We have wanted to expand in Herning for a long time. We believe the City has a lot of potential and we are very pleased that it has now been possible to get an attractive location on one of Herning's major roads - and close to both the many shopping opportunities in the area and the highway."
 
The local development plan for the area, which was adopted in 2012, allows for the establishment of buildings supporting the retail park. NRE Denmark A/S has developed the project and has also been appointed as main contractor.
 
Jonas Olesen, sales manager at NRE Denmark, says: "It is with great pleasure that we can build this restaurant for KFC. We are particularly pleased with the good cooperation we have had with both KFC and Herning Council, and we are proud of the trust that KFC has once again put in NRE to lead the construction.”
 
The KFC restaurant will take up 320 square meters over one level with a high ceiling. It was designed by Årstidernes Arkitekter. KFC owns the property themselves via their investment company Isken ApS.
