Plantorama and Hesø Group have just entered into turnkey contracts with NRE Denmark A/S, for the conversion of a 45,000 sqm ground in Høje-Taastrup to a new large retail area. Locally the area is called the ‘windmill plot’.

The project includes a new 14,600 sqm Plantorama garden center, a 1,050 sqm jem&fix store with an additional 900 sqm outdoor storage area, a 380 sqm Burger King restaurant, a 380 sqm Sunset Boulevard restaurant and lastly a Wash World. The project also includes a large parking area with approx. 500 parking spots, which also meets the increasing demand for charging stations for electric cars. NRE Denmark has been chosen to be responsible for both development and the subsequent construction of the buildings.

Hesø Group sold a large part of the land to Plantorama earlier this year, after which the two parties have jointly been responsible for the development of the land.

The new Plantorama garden center will be the chain's 14th store, and it will become the center with the chain's largest sales area to date. Tue Akstrup Jensen, project manager at Plantorama, is pleased with the choice of NRE Denmark as turnkey contractor and says:

“We look forward to creating a new and exciting garden center for the citizens in and around Høje-Taastrup. Plantorama has become an excursion place for the whole family, where both children and adults can have good experiences. Therefore, there will also be a café, restaurant and play area in the new center. We are working with NRE on other projects, and we look forward to continuing the collaboration on this project.”

Hesø Group, who is the project builder of jem & fix and the fast-food restaurants Burger King and Sunset Boulevard, which both get their own drive-in, has been looking forward to the upcoming start of construction. Henrik Munk Thomsen, director of Hesø Group, says:

“It is a project that we have been working on for a long time, and which will create over 200 new jobs and shopping opportunities in Høje-Taastrup. During the development process, we have had a very close dialogue with Høje-Taastrup Municipality, Mayor Michael Ziegler and his staff of skilled officials in the planning, road, environment and construction departments, and we want to praise them for being an extremely business-friendly, progressive and visionary Municipality. Now we look forward to getting started with the construction and to see the transformation of the land become a reality.”

At NRE Denmark, they are proud to have been chosen as a turnkey contractor. Jacob Eiskjær Olesen, CEO of NRE Denmark, says:

“We know both Hesø Group and Plantorama from previous collaborations, and we are proud that they both show us confidence once again. We are now looking forward to initiating the construction and jointly realizing such a large and significant project, which will make a positive contribution to the existing retail area in Høje-Taastrup.”

The plot is located in a larger and already existing shopping area with Denmark's largest IKEA, the shopping center City 2 with over 72 shops and good traffic connection to Holbæk motorway and Ring 4. NRE will soon begin the preliminary work, and the project is planned to be completed in spring 2023.
