12 August 2015
Managing director Mr. Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, By & Havn, head of property investments Mr. Peter Olsson, AP Pension and managing director Mr. Bo Olesen, NRE Denmark A/S (turn-key contractor) shared the task of cutting of the first sod at the site for the future residential housing with approx. 170 units.

By the end of 2016 the site will be transformed into `Den Grønne Karré´. The site is located in the August Schade area just south of the studios of DR Byen and just north of the future Nordea HQ at DR Byen Metro.

”I am certain that the demand for the houses will be great - this is the general situation at Ørestad at the moment. `Den Grønne Karré´ is located attractively close to both Islands Brygge and the centre of Copenhagen – and at the same time only a few steps away from Amager Fælled,” says managing director Mr. Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, By & Havn. He continues:

”The institutional investors – in particular the pension insurance offices – are thinking in longer-terms and they take a great part in developing the new quarters in Copenhagen while focussing on quality. In this way they are a good partner for us. Copenhagen is developing and there is a need for housing in the city. AP Pension have gradually established a large real estate port folio - among other things they have made investments in Sandkaj, Århusgadekvarteret and in Amerika Plads, Nordhavn,” says Mr. Jens Kramer Mikkelsen.

”It is a privilege that By & Havn has given us the opportunity of buying this extremely attractive location at Ørestad Nord. A location like this makes heavy demands on the architecture as well as the quality in order to secure the best
interaction with the unique buildings surrounding it. A high quality will also be beneficial to the letting of the appartments which even will be competitive on the price since we are the ones building. Therefore we expect to secure a fine return based on this excellent investment," says head of property investments Mr. Peter Olsson, AP Pension.

`Den Grønne Karré´will be from 5 to 8 floors having balconies and the facades will be made of tiles combined with grey-white concrete elements. The ground floor facing the DR Pladsen will have functions targeted at the public - probably a café. On the outer side of `Den Grønne Karré´recreational areas will be established - these areas will be made of plants, plinths at the entrances, parking for bicycles and a combination of private and public terraces.
In the atrium there will be large recreation areas and furthermore the groundfloor appartments will have private terraces.
