NRE Denmark A/S has handed over a new extension to Plantorama's existing garden centre in Hillerød. NRE Denmark has built the extension as a turnkey contract in close collaboration with Plantorama's project department.
The new extension is approximately 4,800 square meters and increases the total area of the centre to 14,800 square meters. Thus, Plantorama Hillerød becomes Denmark's largest garden centre once again.
The extension includes a so-called rovero with a flexible roof, which can be opened and closed according to the weather. In connection with the expansion, a larger parking area with 150 parking spaces has also been established.
Jacob Eiskjær Olesen, CEO of NRE Denmark, says: “Plantorama Hillerød has been a well-functioning flagship in North Zealand. It has been a pleasure to be allowed to build on such a strong foundation, to allow the centre to offer even more experiences to its guests. With the expansion, Plantorama Hillerød is reclaiming the title as the Denmark’s largest garden centre. Most important of all, we are pleased to see the results of the collaboration with our strong and trusting relationship with Plantorama. ”
During the construction, sustainability has been a priority. Both solar cells and rainwater collection are mounted on the roof of the garden centre, which covers most of the electricity and water consumption in the building.
Tue Akstrup Jensen, project manager at Plantorama, says: “We are looking forward to opening the doors to our new facilities and showing our customers the new covered garden plant department. The expansion allows us to offer our customers a better overall experience with a wider range of products and plants. The new initiatives are both healthier for the plants, time-saving and sustainable.”
The design proposal for the new extension was designed by the Dutch architectural firm Breddels Architecten, which also designed the original garden centre.
